The Mac OS X Mountain Lion released after being in the Beta version run for a very long time. The Mac OS X Mountain Lion is much more efficient and technologically sound enough to secure your data much stronger than. The Mountain Lion (Puma concolor) is a remarkable creature of the wild. Admired by hunters, yet loathed by farmers, it is respected and feared greatly by explorers. American Expedition is proud to present information, interesting facts & mountain lion trivia, habitat details, and photos of the Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion Attacks on Humans. Mountain lion attacks on humans are extremely rare, but they do happen. In May of 2018, two bikers were attacked in Snoqualmie, Washington. Mountain lion attacks on humans are rare in California; there have only been four nonfatal attacks on children over the past 16 months, including one in the Bay Area earlier this year. The cat involved in that incident was caught and euthanized.
Answers have been provided by Andy Fisher, Chief of Interpretation and Education at Saguaro National Park and Mark Hart, Public Information Officer at Arizona Game & Fish Department.
Q. How many mountain lions are there in Southern Arizona?A. 'A lot..more than anyone living in the city would expect. We just don't see them.' - Andy Fisher
'It's difficult for us to give solid population numbers for mountain lions because they are extremely elusive and the department doesn't heavily survey the species. However, we conservatively estimate that there are 2,000 to 2,500 lions in the state and that southern Arizona (due to the habitat and Sky Islands) has a higher density than other areas. They are not endangered and are actually quite abundant.' - Mark Hart
Q. Where do mountain lions live?A. 'Everywhere. Usually, we see them up in the mountains, but we also see them moving across the desert, even in the suburbs if there is a reason to come down. They mostly hunt deer, javelina, and other mammals but are strong enough to crack a tortoise shell and have been known to. They are shy and prefer to stay hidden. We like to say that they will know you are there, before you know it is there, and it usually moves away without you even knowing about it. Personally, I have only seen tracks, scat, and the back half of a mountain lion as it quickly jumped up and away from where I was.' - Andy Fisher
'Mountain lions prefer to hunt in steep, rocky terrain where they can ambush their prey from rock ledges above. Therefore, you're more likely to find them in mountain terrain, however, they are able to live in heavily vegetated areas like on the wild lands-urban interface as long as there is prey available. The vast majority of mountain lion sightings reported to the Arizona Game & Fish Department are from the Sabino Canyon area. We take 80-100 such calls a year.' - Mark Hart
Q. What is the difference between a mountain lion and a bobcat?A. 'Mountain Lions are much bigger. A male mountain lion can weigh 145lbs, whereas a bobcat usually tops out around 22lbs. Bobcats have a much shorter 'bob' tail, and tufts of hair from their pointy ears. Think of Wilbur the Wildcat and that is a Bobcat face. Mountain Lions have long tails with black tips. Their bodies are long and solid buff color when they mature. Lion kittens can look like small bobcats, but they don't stay that way for long.' - Andy Fisher
'They are different species with different diets, sizes, habitats, etc. Visit our website to read up on the urban lion, game lion, and urban bobcat.' - Mark Hart
Q. What should I do if I SEE a mountain lion?A. 'If you see a mountain lion, feel blessed. I have worked the national parks for over 15 years, and they all had mountain lions. I have only seen the one, well, the back half of the one. They really prefer to be left alone and will usually get out of your way before you even know it is there.' - Andy Fisher

- Do not approach the animal. Most mountain lions will try to avoid a confrontation. Give them a way to escape.
- Stay calm and speak loudly and firmly.
- Do not run from a mountain lion. Running may stimulate a mountain lion's instinct to chase.
- Stand and face the animal. Make eye contact.
- Appear larger by raising your arms or opening your jacket if you are wearing one. Throw stones, branches, or whatever you can reach without crouching or turning your back. Wave your arms slowly. The idea is to convince the lion that you are not easy prey and that you may be a danger to it.
- Maintain eye contact and slowly back away toward a building, vehicle, or busy area.
- Protect small children so they won't panic and run.
- Fight back if attacked. Many potential victims have fought back successfully with rocks, sticks, caps, jackets, garden tools, their bare hands, and even mountain bikes. Since a mountain lion usually tries to bite the head or neck, try to remain standing and face the animal.
A. 'There is only one good reason for a mountain lion to be looking and thinking about another animal, people included. They are considering if they can eat it. You need to do everything in your power to convince him that you are not worth the fight. Gather small children to you, pick them up if you can. Appear as large and as intimidating as you can. Hold your coat over your head and throw rocks or sticks and yell - but don't crouch down to get the rocks. DO NOT RUN - seeing prey run away triggers that instinct in the cat to chase you down. Hold your ground - 'you don't wanna piece of me' should be the message you convey.' - Andy Fisher
Q. How often do mountain lions attack and in what circumstances?A. 'If a cat does pounce, fight back with everything you've got. Try to protect your head and the back of your neck. Usually when we hear about lions attacking humans, the humans are running or jogging. Sometimes they are children who have run ahead of parents. Keep your group together. Keep your dog with you on a leash if you are out on a trail that allows dogs. Even so, attacks are very rare and if you pay attention to your surroundings, you might be lucky enough to spot one.' - Andy Fisher
'Rarely. The last attack we have documented was in 2010 in Prescott. It was a minor interaction where the victim sustained a scratch. Again, mountain lions are elusive and outdoor recreationists will rarely see them (although they are there), much less have a negative encounter like an attack. There has never been a fatality from a mountain lion attack in Arizona.' - Mark Hart
Q. What 'season' are mountain lions most active in Southern Arizona?'We can see them year round, though we most often get reports of mothers with kittens in the spring or late summer when the juveniles are separating from mom and moving out to set their own territory. Usually, when we get a report of a lion encounter, it is one of these juveniles trying to find their own way in the world without mom's support.' - Andy Fisher
'Typically wildlife are more active during their respective breeding season, but mountain lions breed year-round so they don't have a more active season. Like many species of wildlife though, they are more active at dawn, dusk, and at night.' - Mark Hart
Q. In what parts of Tucson are mountain lions most commonly sighted?'This one is a bit trickier for us, as we really only get reports of the lions near or in Saguaro National Park. We have gotten calls from our neighboring communities, and we hear about lions in the foothills area, so it makes sense that we would usually see them on the edges of Tucson city. We do know that they move through washes or other green spaces, and if they are seen in town, usually it is in one of these corridors.' - Andy Fisher
Audio tools pc. 'Catalina State park is one area where the department gets periodic reports of lion sightings.' - Mark Hart
Q. When was the last time a mountain lion attacked a human in Southern Arizona?'I was really curious about this one because I had no recollection of any person in Southern Arizona being attacked. So I asked one of our biologists who has been here for 20 years and she didn't know of anyone ever being attacked either. We have heard about attacks in California and other places, but not here. Arizona Game and Fish would be directly involved in this kind of lion behavior and they may have better stats than what we could come up with.' - Andy Fisher Client version pubg.
'There are no mountain lion attacks on record in SE Arizona.' - Mark Hart

Apple's 10.9 Mavericks desktop operating system is the newest major release of the OS X version. It reportedly has more than two hundred new features. Continue reading to look at Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks vs. 10.8 Mountain Lion if you are undecided about whether to choose one or upgrade to the new system.
Before the Lion OS X 10.7 was introduced in 2011, Mac users had to buy a disc to install the latest major version of the OS X. However, this changed with the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion that was made available for persons to download directly. The downloadable system is continued with Mavericks OS X 10.9, as you can get this latest version free from the Mac App Store. With this free downloadable OS, your upgrade can be more convenient and easier.
Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks VS. 10.8 Mountain Lion
Mavericks OS X 10.9 is a significant improvement to the desktop operating system that Apple has made available to the 2007 or the latest Macs which run on Lion, Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. The latest system has deep architectural improvements, including longer battery life, updated multiple displays support, enhanced Safari browser, desktop variations of iOS iBook's and maps, new Finder tab and new iCloud Keychain function.
If you are familiar with the multiple displays in 10.8 Mountain Lion or OS X 10.7 Lion, then you will know about the awkward behaviors of the full screen apps. This issue is fixed in OS X 10.9 Mavericks and you are now able to utilize any combination of multiple running desktop apps and full screen apps. For example, one display can run a full-screen app while the other runs on a desktop with multiple apps.
The notifications are other features which are improved upon. They were introduced first in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion with similar functionality integrated that you can only enjoy previously after installing Growl, a third-party app. With Mavericks, replies can be sent directly from the notification and you don't have to open up the app. There are also updated notifications, including the feature that will allow you to get updates from your favorite sites, even when you are not running Safari on your Mac. You can get notifications with messages appearing on the lock screen about new emails, missed FaceTime calls, and more.
When doing the comparisons for Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks vs. 10.8 Mountain Lion, you will notice some appearance changes as well. One of the obvious changes is that there are slightly larger icons for individual preference panes. Besides that, Apple has improved on some icons like the one for iCloud. Another change can be seen in the System Preferences. Even though they will still organize the panes for individual preference in rows, the category names in the earlier variations of OS X are no longer displayed. These include categories such as Personal, System, Wireless & Internet, Hardware, and Other.
In the OS X 10.8 version, you can choose to disable smoothing for smaller fonts than what is specified if you are activating LCD font smoothing. This option is not available in Mavericks as font smoothing can be on or off.
The Mission Control in Mavericks is giving you a new option as there are separate spaces for displays. With it, you are able to set up different workspaces for every display.
Apple revamps the Language & Region pane in the latest OS X. Instead of giving separate tabs for the Region, Text, Language, and Input Sources, there is a single screen where you can choose the preferred option. This change has helped to make the pane a lot simpler.
Unlike in the OS X 10.8 where all the languages are displayed, Mavericks allow you to choose just the one that you actually use and as well as to arrange multiple languages based your preferences.
The privacy and security tabs are also changed to some extent. Gnu full form in ubuntu. The Privacy tab will now allow you to approve access to apps and gain access to special services. The Location Services, Facebook, Contacts, Diagnostics & Usage and Twitter are included, plus OS X Mavericks has categories for Reminders, Calendars and more.
Apple designs the OS X Mavericks with a streamlined Bluetooth pane. In Mavericks, the Bluetooth feature is revamped considerable to make it easier and simpler to understand. In some ways, the settings are similar to the iOS Bluetooth screen.
